There was a time when Parnasree Pally was a quiet, sparsely populated neighbourhood—far removed from the bustle that surrounds it today. Tree-lined roads wound their way past small yet beautiful homes, while the gentle rustle of leaves and the warmth of familiar greetings defined everyday life. The name Parnasree seemed almost poetic, perfectly reflecting the green and peaceful character of the place.
Life was simpler then. Neighbours knew one another by name, doors were open, friendships ran deep, and families shared a cordial bond that made the neighbourhood feel like one large extended family.
It was amid this warmth and togetherness that a group of residents came together with a simple dream—to create a place that would bring the community even closer. Parnasree Milan Sangha was born.
And with it began another cherished tradition—the celebration of Kali Puja.
Six decades later, the neighbourhood has changed, generations have changed, and the celebration has grown—but the spirit that brought everyone together all those years ago still lives on.
The club takes shape as a gathering point for the neighbourhood's festivals and welfare work.
The 1970s brought turbulent times, and Parnasree, like much of Bengal, felt the uncertainty of a changing world. Yet through those difficult years, Milan Sangha carried on.
The celebrations may have been simpler and the circumstances challenging, but the lamps were lit, the community gathered, and Kali Puja continued year after year.
It was a quiet testament to the spirit of Milan Sangha—times could change, challenges could come, but the tradition endured.
A decade of devotion marked within the growing Parnasree community.
1977 marked a special milestone for Milan Sangha — ten years of Kali Puja and togetherness.
What had begun as a modest celebration by a close-knit group of residents had, over the decade, grown into a cherished tradition of Parnasree. Through changing times and the turbulence of the seventies, the flame of devotion had remained undiminished.
The 10th year was more than an anniversary. It was a celebration of a decade of friendships, shared responsibilities, countless memories and a community that had grown together around its beloved Kali Puja.
Ten years had passed. A tradition had taken root. And the journey had only just begun.
25 years of Kali Puja celebrated with the neighbourhood's full participation
Twenty-five years had passed since the journey began. By 1992, Parnasree had grown, generations had changed, and Milan Sangha had become an inseparable part of the neighbourhood’s life.
The Silver Jubilee Kali Puja was more than a celebration of twenty-five years—it was a celebration of memories, friendships and a tradition lovingly carried forward through generations.
As old hands joined new ones in the preparations, 1992 became a milestone to remember—a moment to look back with pride at the journey travelled and look ahead with hope to the many chapters still waiting to be written.
